Meet Kalashree Ashmi Shrimali
An accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer, cultural storyteller, and passionate teacher, Ashmi Shrimali has dedicated her life to preserving the beauty of Indian classical dance — while inviting it into new, vibrant spaces.
Trained under the esteemed Padma Bhushan Dr. Saroja Vaidyanathan, Ashmi’s dance journey began in childhood and reached a major milestone with her Arangetram in Delhi on August 7, 2022. With years of rigorous training, she has cultivated not only technical finesse but also the spiritual and emotional depth that defines true classical artistry.
But Ashmi’s vision extends beyond performance. She is on a mission to make Bharatanatyam accessible, relatable, and resonant for modern audiences — whether through free workshops, creative fusions, or socially impactful performances like her role in “Pukaar” at AIIMS, which highlighted the plight of rape survivors in India.
Her viral folk dance video “Shubh Din”, with over 2.2 million views, shows how tradition and popularity can walk hand in hand.
Ashmi’s Vision
What if tradition didn’t limit you — but uplifted you?
What if ancient rhythms could speak to today’s hearts?
Ashmi’s Vision is a movement born from these very questions.
For Kalashree Ashmi Shrimali, dance is more than performance — it is a language, a connection, and a responsibility. Trained in the sacred tradition of Bharatanatyam, Ashmi carries the legacy of her gurus with pride. But she also believes that tradition must evolve — not to change its essence, but to make it more accessible, more relatable, and more alive in the present.
Through creative fusion, expressive storytelling, and bold cultural expression, Ashmi’s Vision seeks to:
Break barriers between classical and contemporary forms
Bring Bharatanatyam to wider audiences, beyond formal stages
Use dance to spark dialogue on social, emotional, and cultural issues
Create inclusive spaces where anyone can experience and learn classical art
This vision is a tribute to the roots that ground her and the wings that drive her forward — blending discipline with imagination, reverence with relevance.
Ashmi’s Vision is not just about dance.
It’s about awakening something timeless in a modern world — one step, one story, one rhythm at a time.
